A home is far more than four walls and a roof. It is a sanctuary of safety, dignity, and cherished family memories.

When a devastating fire tore through the Shusha family’s home, it took with it everything they had built, leaving them without shelter and facing an uncertain future. In times of profound loss, community support is not just helpful—it is essential.

Stepping forward to walk alongside the family during their darkest hour, the Ncanda Foundation committed to rebuilding what was lost and providing the Shusha family with an opportunity to begin again.

A Day of Dignity and New Beginnings

Following weeks of dedicated construction and support, the Ncanda Group hosted an official handover ceremony to welcome the Shusha family into their brand-new home.

Speaking to those gathered at the ceremony, Ncanda Group CEO & Founder, ubaba uNcanda, reflected on the foundational vision behind the initiative. He emphasized that the Ncanda Group’s purpose extends beyond funeral services; it is deeply rooted in uplifting, protecting, and restoring dignity to the communities we serve.

“Today, we hand over more than a house.
We hand over a new beginning.”

The most moving moment of the day came when the Shusha family stepped across the threshold, touring their newly finished rooms for the very first time. Smiles, tears of relief, and quiet gratitude marked a transition from heartbreak to peace—the start of an entirely fresh chapter.

Building Stronger Communities, One Family at a Time
